Hello ladies,

This is my first post and it is not about quilting. My son has given me a project to make my 5 year old granddaughter an outfit for their christmas school concert. The school opened in 1962 and is closing this year. In Emily's class the are 4 grade primarys and 5 grade ones. So you can see why it is closing. My problem is I do not know what 5 and 6 yrs olds wore in 1962, I was in high school then so only know what we wore. so I was wondering if anyone can help me?

I remember lots of pleated or gathered at the bodice dresses, they always buttoned and tied in the back with a big bow an a couple of sailor dresses. I was 6 then

I remember wearing lots of plaid and pleated skirts and white blouses with peter pan collars. Black patent leather shoes or oxfords, and knee socks or tights.

I also remember the long waisted (around the hips) dresses with a pleated skirt and high waisted (under the breast) with a-line skirt, there was 4 of us girls and we all wore them. but still had the full skirts w/blouses or full skirted dresses
