I have no reason to hide fabric purchases from my husband, but I do rush home to wash it and get it mixed in with my stash before he even knows i've been to the fabric store.

I guess I just don't understand the thrill of hoarding. I buy what I want to use and I use it. And for sure with 100% certainty, I would never stay married to someone I had to hide stuff from.

    But that's just me.
OMG - I wish I was born with your "buy only what you need" genes - unfortunately I am a second generation hoarder with a tad of depression mixed in- I love fabric - I love the smell of it, the bright colors and beautiful patterns - they make me feel happy - & a better alternative to taking anti depression meds.

To to quite honest -I have a good marriage, we will be married 37 yrs August 10th - he is not only my husband, but my best friend as well - that being said - I really don't want my bubble burst with a "What did you buy now?" or "What's in all the boxes that came in the mail?"- a couple of large flat rate boxes stacked at the door - will be hid - sometimes!!

Yes, he plays golf - I play with fabric

No need to hide. DH is an enabler. He has found my week spot and he is one of those guys that loves to get stuff to make his woman happy. Normally that drives me crazy but not when it comes to fabric.

I hide mine too. I like to open it by myself. Its 50% my money I use as does he when he buys new golf clubs and a dozen balls every 2 weeks. Atleast I have something to show for my money. His is in the woods and pond on the course!!!

I have no problem hiding things, my DH works graveyard and sleeps during the day, so he is usually asleep when I go out shopping anyway. He really doesn't care if I buy fabric, though. He does laugh when he walks into my sewing room and sees all the fabric I have bought, but for the most part he likes that I have something to do that I enjoy while he is sleeping and he loves the quilts I make too so I never hear him complain. I guess I am blessed that way!!!

My DH knows that I gain enjoyment as well as therapy from making quilts, so doesn't give me too much grief. But I do try to watch what I spend and not buy just to have....it must have an immediate purpose. He is also my sounding board for quilt designs, telling me what he likes and what just doesn't get it for him. I don't have a LA and he knows how bad I want one, so when I start dreaming and see them for sale online, he just gives me that look with the eye roll.

Now that my DH is also using the long arm, he encourages fabric purchases. :0)
