Guess it comes down to a personal preference.

Most of the time I really never notice the member's location.

Some folks do put a LOT of very personal stuff on here - and it is accessible to ANYONE, ANY WHERE, ANY TIME - that has an internet connection.

Just think of it as being on the front page of your local newspaper - if you wouldn't put it there, keep it off the internet.

When i first joined i didn't know about a "profile", thus no personal details and was listed as "in hiding" for lack of pertinent info.

I also worked full time until age 72. So if I have offened you or anyone else on the board by not listing my address I am so sorry. I am fron Prichard, West Virginia and proud of it.
Hi, Wolverine! You and I are the same age, and like you, I do very well. I am from Texas, which is a big place to be from, and in hiding because it's fun. Reminds me of a poem I used to read to my grandchildren. "I'm hiding, I'm hiding and no one knows where. All they can see of me is my toes and my hair..."

When I was a newspaper reporter, I learned that many people are in hiding for a reason--crazy ex-husband, witness protection program, bill collectors, ad infinitum--and so did not take pictures or give their names in news stories.

If you are on the Internet anywhere, you can be tracked and if you have a cell phone you can be tracked. But, it requires effort to do it. If people I don't know want to find me, they'll have to put a little effort into it.

    Hang loose. froggyintexas

This is what was told to me too when I posed the same question some time back. Makes sense for that reason. I've never been involved with a secret pal swap so not sure what that is either.

It always irked me when people told my students--I taught seniors government and economics--that their high school years were the "best years of your life." Did they think it was all down hill after age 18?

For the most part, except for an occasional physical twinge I didn't have at 18, everything has been better and better since age 18! Glad to know there are some other golden oldies on the board. froggyintexas
