I don't have any ideas for you except pillow cases and aprons, but I'll be watching to see what others come up with.

I just bought two patterns which might be nice made up as gifts: Kitty Cups (a pincushion and tool holder made from a coffee mug and fabric), and Pass the Hot Dish (a potholder fitted to a 9" x 13" or 9"x 9" square pan so it can be safely passed at the table). Both were on sale at Nancy's Notions.

I have received a little pouch that just fits a circular piece of plastic canvas. It's for carrying earrings when traveling, but, since I don't change mine out often, I just use it for my earrings at home so they don't get lost.

    I've made little coin purses.

If you know people who cook with cast iron, skillet handle hot pads are really handy.

    I've also received a coaster.

If you knit, one of my favorite gifts to receive are my mom's knitted socks. Now that I've learned to make them, I know just how much time goes into them!! (I timed myself on one sock. 16 hours, 45 minutes. I kept making little mistakes I had to fix on the second sock in the pair, so that one took even longer. Right now, I'm looking at around 34+ hour/pair of socks, plus cost of yarn, so for me to give a pair as a gift, I need to really like that person, lol.)

    A tissue box cover?

    http://www.pinflair.co.uk/new-boutiq...eyword=boutiqu

I bought this kit at the Festival of Quilts this year and plan to make a few for gifts. The lid lifts to put the box in rather than being just a cover over the box (like the ones that come up in Pinterest). If you made it with a solid lid, it would make a useful container. Perhaps make a matching pair for a dressing table?
