I tie a strip of material to the handle of mine to let everyone in my house know that they are for fabric ONLY! This seems to work well.

My Hubby loves to tease me by playing with my scissors...He picks them up and plays with them, pretends that he's going to cut all different types of textures with them...If I didn't know him better, it would almost be classified as some kind of mental abuse...Friends and relatives always buy him (and me) different types of scissors to alleviate the tension that the on-going scissor battles between the 2 of us...it's pretty funny. You just have to be clear on who's cutting what with who's scissors.

My roomie is the best.. and in return .. I got him a pair of the short, sharp pointed Fiskars soft touch scissors for his own use. So for Christmas he got me two pair of scissors.. one of the Soft touch shears, and a less expensive pair to cut out templates. I also have a couple of pair of ginghers that he would never touch.. and he replaces all the blades on my rotary cutters for me. (Now he's watching for a pair of Fiskars soft touch pinking shears for my birthday!!) He's a professional cook and knows how important the right (and very sharpest) tools are.

Ohhhh noooo alll of us quilters have this problem! My rule is if you use my good scissors, your fingers get cut off up to the knuckle! (Still doesn't work) I had a pair of curved tip embroidery scissors, brand new & DH cut weather stripping with them! Now they are out of line but on a good note he bought me a pair of double curved Ghinger scissors while in Paducah this weekend so he has paid double for it!

I keep my Gingher shears in it's plastic sleeve with a message taped to it: "Don't even think about using these!!"

Another advantage of being left handed - no one else likes the way the scissors cut when they try to use them. It also makes them appreciate why I can't use 'right handed' scissors properly

Yep, one thanksgiving I couldn't find mine, and DH said he had borrowed it to siphon antifreeze from a tractor, I told him he didn't borrow, he stole it, because it was no longer something I wanted to have in the house.
