It’s a beautiful block and whichever border you choose, will look great. I agree though, the cornerstone adds depth to the block.

Love what you did here, but I can see the challenge of making the corner stone on the other 3 sides in making them fit. I loved geometry in high school and got A's but I can't remember enough to help you here!

Love your color choices and blocks! Especially the black corners.
I am wondering if you could put a thin strip around the star block to make up the difference, either in the white, or one of the colors. OR if you re-stitched inside the border blocks seams, the gold and white blocks, just a thread inside on each block, if that would not "shrink" the strip some. (Not everyone's 1/4" mark is the same when sewing blocks. So, if you make your blocks with an oversized 1/4" seam, the block would come out smaller, so wouldn't it work if you WANTED to shrink it a little? At least, that is my thinking theory.) You only need to shrink it a little. Just a fraction in each block adds up.
Good luck. It is going to look great, whatever you do. You have a wonderful start.

After un-sewing, and resewing lots of the border seams, this may have to do. I will hand appliqué the green cornerstone diamonds, and hope that after the quilting is done, everything will look ok. I made this block as a practice project, and it will be living at my house, either on a wall or on a table, and I now have exactly a 6” square of the background fabric left. I will bind with red....I think! . The green borders have not yet been attached-they will finish at 1 1/2”. Time to get ready for Halloween tonight! Thank you for all of your thoughts!

I think the above is the perfect solution. Beautiful block, would really make a beautiful quilt.

It is beautiful the way you have laid it out.
I took Geometry in HS and could never "get" then hang of it - I was - like a lot of people - thinking what the heck, I'll never use this when I "grow up". Little did I know how much it would help me now. I'm learning more now about Geometry then I ever did in HS. I think practical application helps more than from a book - sometimes.
