    Hmmm, my Janome 6600P has an accufeed foot which is a walking foot. I backstitched a lot with it yesterday. Guess I will check the manual before doing that again.

    My Bernina walking foot will stitch in reverse as long as your stitch length is set at 3 or less. I have done dec stitches with it to sew down the front of bindings w/no trouble. If yours won't do this and you want a really secure stitch, drop stitch length to zero, stitch a few and then bring stitch length back to normal. You should be just fine!!
