(new topic) I want to make a six inch hour glass block. How large should the block be before cutting into four sections?

    I need help.

Should it be a 10 inch block? Somone suggested this. I need help from you pros.

    Thanks

    Thanks Lovingmama

But if you look at the picture below through the link you will see a baby quilt with double x squares and the hour glass in it. The squares look to be six inces in size after completion. I just want to know what size should the square for the hour glass be before cutting it.

    Thanks so much.

I like the idea of starting with 1 1/2" bigger, make a few and see if that works, if they are too big, then go to 1 1/4" :D:D:D

    Thank you Janie.

It works. Have a wonderful day and I will show you my block when I finish.

It has snowed here so I am in the day. I am getting ready to sew the rest of the day.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hi Amma,

Thank you too. I will try both and see what I get. I am so excited. I am new at this and love this site because there are so many people who are just great and willing to share information.

    Have a blessed day!
