Do you have enough room to do a ladder stitch? That seems to work the best for me when I come across things like that...

Why not just do a blind stitch? Same as you would when hand sewing the binding. Bury the know then stitch the opening closed then bury the ending knot.

Unless I'm not understanding what you are looking to do it should work fine.

I agree with using fusible tape to fix it.
Otherwise you can use a blind hand stitch which would work well too!

That would be my suggestion. Otherwise an applique sounds like the solution.

I think I'd use a ladder stitich too, like doing applique. Since the spot is small, less than 2", you might try using matching color thread and machine sewing it down right on the very edge of the sashing, or border, whichever is "on top". I promise it will virtually disappear and *you* will be the only one to ever really see it once the quilt is bound and washed.

There's no applique on the quilt so I think this would look worse than liquid stitch or some other suggestions.
