Default How do I quilt a 3 dimensional bow tie quilt?

Seems like a waste of time and energy to sew down the dimensional center of a bow tie quilt.
Any suggestions? I've searched Google and can only find a couple examples of what others have done.

That is beautiful. Thanks. I think I'll try something like that.
