    Thanks everyone for your help! I am going to watch the tube tutorial. I am leaning to seaming down both sides of the 44" so I can keep the pretty design. It doesn't really matter how I do it because my mom (who doesn't sew) will think it is beautiful and perfect! She is 81 and still my biggest supporter!

    I like to use some of the fabric from the front of the quilt for the backing as well. I usually put a wide border on all 4 sides of the backing piece.

    I would do it in thirds. I don't like a seam down the middle of the back.
