Default How do I use a square up ruler???

I have looked and searched and cannot find instructions that I can use to square up a half square triangle. I read somewhere you need to square it up using the diagonal line. I have an Easy Angle and an Omnigrid triangle ruler, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to use.

It doesn't seem like it should be that difficult, but for me it is impossible.

Any guidance or links would be so appreciated. I purchased the rulers several years ago and don't recall if they really came with any instructions.

    Thank you in advance.

I bought the Martingale/That Patchwork Place Bias Square Up ruler years ago. I like it best because it is easy to read and in 1/8" increments. There are no other lines to confuse the issue and it is easy to use.

While there my be other rulers that can be used, this is what I prefer. I feel it was well worth the investment ... esp since I am easily distracted.

Thank you. I have been searching on square up ruler, instead of easy angle.

It doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal (and it probably isn't for others).

It almost looks like the June Tailor ruler is the one that does squaring up?

    Still checking it all out.

Here's my method when squaring up HST's... I take the sewn patch and place on my cutting mat. Line up the 45 degree line on the sewn seam. If the finished size of the HST is to be 2.5 inches say, I slide that 45 degree line on the seam until I get to the 2.5" mark on the ruler with the barest of fabric to be chopped off. Do this for all 4 sides. For two of the sides you will need to flip the ruler to get the 45 line going in the correct direction. By the time you are done all 4 sides your HST should measure an accurate 2.5" (or whatever measurement you are working with). If it's still a little off, follow the same process and trim until accurate.

NJ Quilter. Excellent explanation. No 'special' ruler needed.

This is my favorite also. My 1/2 square triangle blocks are always the perfect size. It is one tool that I count as invaluable! Super easy to use. I had to get mine at a quilt store. I am sure there is probably a U-Tube video on how to use it. I would definitely research it. I highly recommend it.
