First pic was sideways so I added one upright. It's only part of the top, couldn't get a good angle of the whole thing.

I've been eating solids since I was about 6 months old. Oh, you mean fabric! The only problem I have with solids is telling good side from bad side. I'm not sure it matters, but I am a bit nutsy about stuff like that.

I like solids but don't have enough of them. I have so many florals that when I walk in the room I can feel my allergies coming on!!

I practically never use solids. If I get a block of the month or a rare kit and if there are solids I usually pull them out and find a tone on tone to use. I just don't like using them. Much much prefer to use the tone on tones!!

I like the look of tone on tones better than straight solids...personal preference. Besides, they hide the boo-boos so much better! LOL! Think that may be the real reason I like them so much.
I've discovered that I also like the prints that read more as solid for most things. However there's nothing like the the big vibrant color prints for kaleidoscope type quilts. Have one in progress sitting in it's stack of paper plates waiting to be stitched together when I get done with the other projects that have 'due dates' on 'em. Seems like those push the ones we do just for fun farther and farther back on the back burner.

As a handquilter I love solids. The quilting shows up so well on a solid color block. If the quilt top is made with florals or prints I always use a solid backing so the quilting will show somewhere.

I tend to like solids for background. Since I applique alot of quilts I find the solid background appeals to me better than print or tone on tone. But saying that my applique pieces tend to be bright and made of prints. tone on tone. etc. very little solids in the applique pieces. Even the hearts in the Rose of Sharon quilt are tone on tone.

LOL, you sound like me! I didn't think I had many solids till I reorganized my fabrics and decided to seperate my solids. WOW, I had way more than I realized. So now I'm using them more. But I still love my florals and am always drawn to them.

I like solids, especially brightly colored ones. I use them a lot, but I have never made a quilt entirely of solids.
