This is brilliant - if I haven't made them for a while, I always have to look up the formula. I'll ut this in my book along with my formulae for setting triangles etc. :-D

Marti Michell templates allow you to cut exactly what you need for flying geese; no loosy goosy, no trimming off corners or bunny ears.

fast flying geese. she is very clear and easy to understand.
I watched the video and it all made sense to me. I have watched Eleanor Burns and Ricky Timms. Made the Ricky Timms flying geese block and it is okay. Eleanor made me feel that I just wasn't catching on and I have all of her rulers. Watched Deb Tucker and was pretty impressed. Thanks for sharing the video, helped me a lot.

This is something he learned in England...

PS I also love that he 'breaks rules' ie, measures with the mat and cuts towards him! So I'm in good company.

PPS - What I also LOVE about Ricky Tims is in his words 'he is all about creativity' - ie he gives techniques and ideas, not patterns. I find him very inspiring. Sorry, Ricky Tims fan club here.

JoAnn 's has flying geese rulers in diferent sizes (I use mine a lot) with a coupon under $7. I also found a new flying geese ruler a bit more expensive but you can make several different sizes with this ruler. It's called Flying Geese x 4

I think I like this better than Eleanor's method. I want to try it. I usually make my FG with the rectangle and the two squares.

... and you only need regular rulers than you've already got - I am a bit suspicious of 'methods' put out by 'experts' that then require buying specialist tools from them. :?

The fomula posted earlier is all you need to know. :-D http://www.patchpieces.com/sharingpatch.html
