Here is an idea for you: Look at Children's Coloring books ... maybe you can find one with Alphabets and Numbers, Check Dollar Tree in the School section they might have the numbers and letters there too. Bulletin board supplies in a Teacher's Supply Store. other wise you might have to print out from online fonts.

I found some nice fat letters ( like a teacher might use on a bulletin board) at the dollar store. I traced the letters I needed then appliquéd them to a bib I made. It worked out great. There were 3 sets of letters in the package and only a dollar.

Went to the dollar store and bought a number/letter stencil. WonderUnder on back of fabric. Trace whatever you need...make sure it's reversed. Cut out, press and appliqué. Easy peasy.

A faster way instead of paper piecing, but still sewn in the quilt, is to use the method in the book Fat Quarter Fonts.

I agree qshorttimer! I have used such stencils forever (I was a teacher for 38 years.) I have many sizes in my pattern box.

quilterscache.com has both letters and numbers that are pieced and are boxy looking. I think you can have the choice of the size block you would like.

You could also paint them; I recommend "Aunt Martha's ballpoint" fabric paint tubes. My grandmother used these paints to make doll faces and also to paint cartoon characters onto quilt blocks; even after years and years of washings, the paint still looks really good.
