How do you organize your fabric scraps?

I started using my scraps by sewing together haphazardly then cuttin blocks 6 inch size and one day I plan to sew those squares together! Got a great lime green stripe fabric for around each square and like it so far! Need to work on the scrap pile again!

I prefer to organize by color, each color family in a drawer in a lovely old bureau no longer in use for clothing. I do not cut fabrics until I have call to make use of them, for I like to keep my options open. I will, however, trim away ragged bits or curved areas to neaten the scrap before storage.

I don't precut scraps as I never seem to need the size I cut. So I leave all scraps as they are and sort by size or color. Anything smaller than a 5" WOF strip is dumped in a bin for string/scrappy quilts.

I do a version of Bonnie Hunter... I found I really wasn't using 3" or 4" squares. I cut the largest I can from each scrap (although, if it is bigger than about 6 or 8", I leave it whole and put it with the FQ's), then cut again the largest, rinse and repeat. I am fortunate enough to work as a camp nurse, so I have time that I can be p"roductive and work on taming the scraps. I cut 5", 3.5", 2.5" (those 2 sizes can play nice with the 5") 2" squares. Strips to me, I leave as long as possible... thus, if I have a 5" x 10" strip, I would NOT cut 2 5" blocks, but leave it long. My goal is to have as big a piece as possible, yet have uniformly cut strips/blocks. The crumbs left, as long as there is still about an inch after seams, become crumb blocks... Hope any of this makes sense... I haven't had my whole cup of coffee yet

I have a very complicated organization system for my scraps. I toss them into a bag as I go (a kitchen-sized trash bag, to be exact), where they multiply like crazy. Before you know it, there are multiple bags full. I get tired of looking at (aka tripping over) the bags, so eventually I go through and keep my favorites, and then sell or give away the rest, depending on whether the scraps are especially nice or just "meh". Last time I sold them for a few bucks at a yard sale. Then I start filling another bag. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I do occasionally go through and cut squares (usually 5" and 2-1/2"), and every once in awhile I'll make a scrappy quilt, but for the most part, the scraps just accumulate until I get tired of looking at them.

I cut all my scraps into 5" squares or 2 1/2" strips. Then I store these in plastic shoe boxes. I have been cutting more 5" squares lately; I have so many 2 1/2 strips and I seem to use more 5" squares.

I have lots of scraps I am currently cutting down to useful sizes...I start with 10 inch squares, working my way down with 8", 6", and 5" squares, then I cut 2.5" strips....I will be cutting for days yet....not my idea of fun, but a necessary evil.

I cut 10 inch squares, 5 inch squares and 4 inch squares. The rest is cut into strips of various widths and used in string quilts. I cut up the pieces that are less than a quarter of a yard, the full quarters go into plastic shoe boxes and the larger pieces go into my regular stash sorted by color.
