Use the press board/paper covered ones instead of wood, plastic or metal so the rulers won't get scratched. I'll post a picture tomorrow.
To hang the rulers.... I use the little 3M hooks that have the folded over wire head. They are small hooks, make for 2 lbs or less I think. The wire hook swings up and/or down should you need it, and the rulers I have hanging on each one are not over 2 lbs heavy (I have a Shape Cut Plus on one, a long 6x30, etc. on them.) The 3M adhesive will come off my Horn cabinet, walls, bookshelves and such without leaving a mark or a hole. I LOVE them.

I keep my mats propped up in back of my dresser and I can reach for them easily. The largest one is propped up behind my bed. My rulers are hung through a belt ring that I have hooked on the edge of my bookcase (attached to the top of the bookcase). As you can surmise, my sewing room is also my bedroom so I lay out the blocks on my bed - it is very convenient.

my rulers hang on white pegboard above my cutting table. My extra mats (only have two extras) - one sits on top of one of my rubbermaid bins, and other (a sturdy, spinning kind) leans against the side of my cutting table) - not very inventive, lol...

I use a wooden cutting board made for slicing bread machine bread.Works fine for rulers. Also have peg board on 3 walls....I keep a lot of stuff there on hooks. Some ppl use dish drainers for ruler storage I'm looking for ways to stand my Go dies on the side...as Accuquilt recommends.

Some are hanging from nails on my cabinets and some are in a rack...I got a plastic coated dish rack and a letter rack and you can look for an old record rack. These racks were found for cheap at yard sales. I am the queen of cheap and love using other things for different uses than they were intended.
Good luck!
