I also use the ArtBins and get them either on sale or use my 40% off coupon at JoAnn's. I really like them for this use and usually have a separate project in each one, although there are dividers (3-4 I believe) and once in a while I will have several smaller projects in a box, using the dividers. These come in clear or in colors.

These bins keep me a lot more organized and I don't loose pieces or patterns for my projects.

As soon as my fabric is washed and ironed, I put all the pieces that go together in the 2 gal zip lock bags. I am much better at keeping my fabric that is in various stages of a quilt together than I am at finishing the actual quilt.

When I get tired of working on one project, I put all the blocks or top that isn't finished into plastic baggies. If the top is nearly finished but I don't want to work on it I drape the top over a hanger and put all the material pretaining to that project in a walmart bag and hang it over the same hanger with top. This keeps me from forgeting and using some of the material on something else. I'm a big basket fan so I have various baskets sitting around with projects in baggies. I have tops waiting to be quilted on hangers I have a closet in my sewing room. much of it is shelves but there is room to hang things.

I buy the boxes (at Joann's) that are 12x12x4. It's perfect for finished blocks or selected fabrics for a quilt.

I buy flats of drinks for DH...(24).
I keep these boxes.
I cut down the side, cutting the side all the way off, of two boxes, then slide them together...one is inside the other, and like the good old southern way...DUCT tape 'em silly!!!!
I go for an 18" x 20" finished box and put one project in.
By staggering them, I can stack a lot.
:oops: guess my secret is out...I have a LOT of WIP's :oops: :XD:

I use Tupperware containers. They stack nicely.

I also make use of 1 gallon zip bags, but you must remember to leave them open just a little. If you don't, you risk mildew (Ewwwwe!). I write on the outside, top edge with a permanent pen what ever I was doing, buying, planning, or what part I was working on. If you store them in a boot size box, you can stand the smaller ones up in back, and the bigger ones can lie down. I have even used different color inks or tags for different types of project, ie; doll w/ pink tags. quilt with yellow tags, applique with green tags. I hope this helps jump start your own ideas for organizing your stuff.

I use zip bags. I store them in "shirt boxes" that I get at a "high class" mens store. I get them for free, they are a great size and stack really neat. Men's store might give them to for free, or a small fee.

I store mine now in the plastic bags that sheets and comforters come in. They are see thru and have zippers and they are free (well sort of).
