I wash inwarm water and dry on low!(baby quilts.) In other quilts I wash in cold and dry on my clothes line on a cloudy day. I also include washing instructions when I present a quilt so they know how to take care of it. :D

I prewash fabric in cold water before sewing so I will know if there will be running. After making the quilt, I was on the gentle cycle in cold water and dry in the dryer. So far, has always worked for me.

I wash in cold water with one tablespoon (that is all it takes) of Orvus quilt soap. I purchased a gallon of it at the local feed store for $30, as opposed to a 8 ounce bottle that costs $9.99 at a quilt shop.
I put it in the dryer for 15 minutes and then remove it.

Boring I know but I wash mine on gentle cycle with liguid laundry detergent and dry on permanent press cycle. I prewash my fabric to remove chemicals, dyes and sizing since my quilts are for charity and lots of kids are allergic to these things. The last thing they need is an allergic reaction when they are already in the hospital.
