If I read the first posting correctly, this is a finished quilt.

I also agree with Jan - that it is up to the customer to decide if it will "work" on her bed.

(If it were my bed, the answer would probably be "no" - I like about the same amount of "drop" on three sides)

The quilt is finished! I am not taking it apart to fit her bed, not to mention the fabrics came from charm packs and I may not be able to match them.
I side with Jan in VA - it is done - If it fits her bed, good deal, if not c'est la vie!

the only way it will work is if she wants to turn in on-point and place it over another spread.

Gilla, that is beautiful! As comparison, I do have a quilt that is 78 x 78 on my double bed. It does seem a little small sometimes. The sides drop down only about 10 - 11 inches. There isn't enough quilt to tuck the pillows under and fold up.

How nice to be validated by so many "agree with" responses. Thank you.

But that aside, I'm surprised at how many of us want our quilts to sort of serve as bedspreads, hang very generously over the edges and end and cover the pillows at the head. It has never occured to me to do that, LOL :?

I hardly ever know what size one of my finished quilts is, and am always a bit taken aback when someone asks. It is what it wants to be...what else can I say?!

Here I am suggesting Gilla not let the buyer push her around on this, yet I do it all the time with my fabrics :P They, and the quilt, "tell me" what they want to be; I thought everybody had bossy stashes like this!

My quilts are generally large enough to wrap my body, and one now on my bed grew substantially more than others I've made. But that thing was so heavy when I got it back from the long-armer I thought I'd never get it folded up; I'm used to it now, of course, but it definitely keeps me in the bed on a cold night. It has Warm and Natural in it, by the way.

So, this thread has made me realize that I make quilts to see the colors and patterns work together more than I make them for "covers"; yet I rarely make wall hangings any more. (I mean, I could "paper" three houses with all those I've made over the decades  ) How about you?
