How to Downsize your Magazines
#14
My only problem with this is that I may not see anything that "strikes my fancy" this time, and two years from now something jumps out at me! I have bought many of my magazines at flea markets or off of ebay, and many are very old...but I have only recently gotten rid of any of them. I have looked through them several times and finally gotten rid of several boxes of them through the board here, but I still tend to hang on to more than I can go through and tear or give to someone else. Guess I just hoard too much... I do have them confined to one bookcase...

I do the same thing. I get my 3-ring binders from the thrift store, expecially on 50% senior discount day. Have been getting really nice white ones for 49 cents, the kind with the plastic front cover you can slip a page into - that's what I use for sort of an 'index' of the contents.

I do the same. Some patterns I do back to back so I can fit motre in. I got smaller ones at dollar tree when they stock up at back to school time ( wish I'd bought more!). One for recipes, one for crochet patterns one for cut out pattern pieces and a big notebook for quilt patterns!!

Years ago my DH (who taught marketing in college) told me that 75% of a magazine is advertizing. So, my stacks of magazines 2 feet tall were only 6 inches of content I was interested in! Yikes!
From then on, I mutilated my magazines! As I went thru it the first time, I tore out each article I was interested in and dropped it in a file folder. Later, I sorted the articles into categories: recipes, decorating, crafting, quilting, etc. Then into folders or binders.
Now, I'm digitizing everything! I'm scanning the paper copies onto my computer into similar folders and GETTING RID OF THE PAPER!!
Yipee!!!
