posted a similar question awhile back... loved hearing how everyone does things differently. Some work on several at a time, others work straight thru. I just posted a quick strip quilt I did (in pics section).. That's what I enjoy - FAST! Need that immediate gratification. I'm working on another now and thinking I want it for my bed (king) but also afraid I'll never finish it. It's funny, sometimes the fabric/design really inspires me. I like the girly stuff (fabrics).. My son keeps asking when I'm gonna work on his which is a nautical theme twin spread and I even have a large center piece to work around... but just cant get motivated to work with fish! :) :) Maybe use some of the fabric you've been collecting and do a table runner or a wall hanging to keep you motivated and having fun!

I am so sorry to hear about your sisters death.. Don't give up... Do it in memory of your sister... It may make you want to do it. I have a quilt started but something always happens I have to be in the mood to quilt & now that the weather is warmi am out side more it will get done in Gods time not mine he has me doing other things right now... God Bless

i started a quilt for my son when he was 6 and i gave it him when he was 41.
i began a quilt for my daughter when she was 7 and it was given 35 years
later. :roll: i have wip's that are 20 years old. i put them down or
pick them up. it's not a contest so i still win. :lol: right?

Depends upon sooo many things. The difficulty of the pattern, what else is going on in one's life, your mood, time of year, etc. etc. etc.
I just bought the Bali Wedding Star pattern and I KNOW it will take at least 1 year and that's spending a lot of time on it! Don't be discouraged - enjoy the hobby!

Dear, I thought quilting is for enjoyment not to add you more stress. Your queen quilt will be there waiting for you when you get ready.

Work on something that's bright and happy and makes you smile. Sound like you need a hug and a smile back. :)

To answer your question (Yes) I have potholders, rice bags, 3 quilts and dresses for my grandaughter to do. But guess what I'm online with you guys and I have another brower open to order material. So go figure this is what we do.

One of my first quilts took 4 years to finish. When I told my Aunt, she said she was still working on a Grandmother's flower garden that she started 45 years ago! Keep on keeping on!

For several years now I have been somewhat in your shoes, my husband died, had to move in with family, no privacy, no space having to buy more sewing notions, parts of quilts in different places (love BOM's). Now I have managed to get my room together have finished two quilts for great-grandchildren another for Christmas plus numerous special quilted pillowcases. All I have learned is that UFO's are with us all, when times are harsh sew what you want not what you think you should. Sewing what you feel like brings back the joy of sewing.

This has been one of the best chains we've had on here lately. I love all the different view points from all the ladies that have written. I hope this helps all the newbies, and those stuck on UFO's and other projects to know that at one time or another we all put our projects aside for what ever reason. But like old friends, there are always there for us when we return. Like SHRABAR said, "It's all in God's time". I so agree. Just enjoy.

I can't buy fabric, as I am disabled and have not got SSS yet. so what I have is from the wonderful people on the board. There are a lot of patterns I want to do, but don't have the yardage to do them. I have the one pattern that Dunster designed and that a quilt angle sent me, but that has to wait until I have just the right fabric to start, as that will be a special quilt. because it is my dream quilt and someone so kind sent the pattern that I could not buy. sewing causes a lot of pain for me, so I force myself to sit at the machine longer then 10 minutes, so know I sew one day and I am down the next in unbearable pain, but this is how I do it now so I can complete a project. I am just learning to quilt and I love it. so I will deal with the pain. so maybe you could force yourself to sew one day and take the next day off, until you have the quilt done.
