Youmean you're supposed to finish quilts befoer you move on to another project??!!?!?! :oops: I have one quilt I've been workin gon since before my son was born, 2 1/2 years ago. I also have several that are in various stages of being finished. I have to finish 2 table runners by next week and then a purse by the beginning of June and then back to my quilts.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. You are in my prayers.

Hah! Then I won't be embarassed to say I have the beginnings of quilts - - - I love to hand embroider the squares at lunch and in front of the TV, and then was mystified about what to do with them afterwards - - and since then I have learned even more intricate embroidery stitches and may go back and doll up some of the "squares" that are still waiting for the next segment. Since I will be retiring in 3 mos, I hope to then be able to learn how to finish them.

It took me over 3 years to finish my first quilt. Now I'm making pillow shams to go with it. I have fabric for at least 8 more quilts and 3-4 purses and several table runners. That's why my name is Fabricnut. I bought more fabric today even. At least I'm not spending money at the casino. And my fabric will last much longer then an evening at the slots. There isn't much else to do around this area for fun or entertainment.:(

I've been quilting for 7 months, have finished two and have 3 started and set aside and lots more ideas for others. I am making quilted runners, pot holder, aprons, kids travel bags, bible cover right now for a flea market, so the quilts are just sitting. I always have something to work on. and things i would like to start. Don't worry, there is nothing wrong with you, us quilters are all alike! Lace

The quilt I am hand quilting right now , the top was made oh maybe 8 years ago. I have a few UFO's that are on my list to finish this year. And I am working on getting my stash down. But I have been quilting since the late 80's and have finished no where near what others here have done. They get done when they get done. Unless I am making it for a gift or something else that has a deadline I don't worry about them. No one is in a race to see how many we get done compared to other quilters. If I did that or compared what I do to what some on here have done, I would quit. And I haven't yet so... Just enjoy the process.

that's why it's a hobby, unless you are doing business. It should be a relaxing thing to do. If things are going badly and I keep making mistakes, I just quit and go do something else. I may get an inspitation for another quilt before I get back to it.

I am a new quilter and now have several projects going at the same time. That way I can work on different ones. Have fun quilting!

Discipline! Discipline! discipline! Schedule time to work on it. Say every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Then I find that I work on it longer once I get started. Sometimes just getting it out takes too much effort unless I know I'm going to be at it for a few hours. Work on it long enough each time period to see some progress and it will motivate you to finish it!

I am currently working on three different quilts at the same time. I get interupted a lot and often can't get back to things for days (in this case weeks) with all of the kids end of scool/scouts/music class activities. sigh So, in short, ti's normal. Set that aside and start something else - come back to it when you want.

PS - I am planning on making quilted pot holders and cup holders as Christmas gifts for friends and family this year - so that is another project I need to get started on - I have a BIG family LOL
