I made a crib size quilt for a neighbor girl years ago. when they were moving her mom told her to go get her 'quilt'. She was perhaps 13 or 14 at the time. It was almost in shreds. Wow but it was loved and used. she is now married and has 2 young children of her own. and her mom does long arm quilting.

They should last a really long time! I have some that have been used almost daily for the past 20 years! It should have at least another 20 years!

It is weird.

I've heard really derogatory things said about "Walmart fabric" but I have some really simple (cut in long strips) quilts I made for my kids and tied together with that dreaded "walmart fabric" that have lasted over 15-20 years--made for boys. But the other day I was told that the quilt I made for my 23 y/o nephew and given to him about 7-8 years ago when I was first starting to really make quilts is starting to fall apart and look really worn. I used really nice Robert Kauffman and other neat baseball fabrics purchased on line (quilt shop quality).

So, "who knows"? But I know that I don't appreciate the nasty, derogative comments by anyone about that poor quality "Walmart fabric".

(I'm referring to mostly the Springs or VIP fabrics that they commonly sell.)

I made a quilt for all my grand children ans the youngest has warn his out. He not only sleeps with it . He drags it every place he goes. It is almost beyond repair, and I have repaired it many times. The quilt is washed every week. He is 5. All the others are still in good shape yet. I have a quilt in progress for him now. This a big boy quilt for his new bed.
