How many people does it take to load a quilting machine?

I pin these with about 10 pins to the backing. Then sew with the longarm around the edge to secure it. I sew the edges and straighten the top and batting with each advance. I also find I'm using fewer pins (maybe half as many) to attach the backing to the leaders with no difference in results.
Once the quilt is rolled it's not going anywhere!

It takes me forever too. I always have to get out the video and watch it to see how to load it-you'd think I'd remember but I always have a nightmare about quilting the quilt only to find I loaded the back with the wrong side up.

this is like trying to read Chinese, but sounds fantastic. Because we live in a very small house, i don't have room for anything other than a standard machine in a bedroom, but i can dream - can't i?

It takes me about an hour to load a queen size quilt. I only float the batting. I pin the top about every 4". When I rent the machine I let the students help me do the pinning. I do all the rolling bc I am a little fussy about getting it straight. I love my HQ16. I don't like tight quilting. I want my blocks to shine not the quilting. I think the more/tighter the quilting the heavier the quilt.
