hey ya all...i never gave it much thought coz i am so lucky to have many, but i guess there are some quilters that have to travel great distances for fabric and such......i have within 5 miles of me 3 quilt stores, 1 joanns, 1 hancock, and 1 hobby lobby...if you go out 15 miles you can add a walmart with fabric, and 3 more quilt stores.....what is the farthest any of you travel for quilting supplies? gina

All the LQS within 5 miles have closed. JoAnn's is about 8 miles.

Well, I'm 10 miles from anything, so I have to go anywhere from 12 miles on up to get to any fabric stores. I do have a few quilt shops about 15 miles away. Most are about 25 miles away.

Walmart is about 10 miles away, Joann's and LQS's 40 miles away. Probably a good thing they are so far away....saves me some money in the long run!

My favorite store is about 10 miles away, although there are 3 JoAnn's and a nice LQS closer. I travel farther for their flat-fold bargains!

WM and JoAnn's are 20-25 minutes away, two LQS's are 15 minutes away, but there are probably 12 more quilt shops within an hour's drive, so I have it pretty good, too!

Joanns and Hobby Lobby are about 22 miles from me. The WalMart I normally shop at is about 17 miles, but it doesn't have fabric. There is a WalMart 23 miles in the opposite direction that has a large fabric section. I don't have an LQS any closer than 22 miles. We used to have a couple of stores in town that sold quilting cotton, but unfortunately they've both closed due to the economy.

we are very lucky here. i have three lqs, 3 joanns, 2 hancocks within 10 mile radius. walmarts only have precut fab now. we lost two lqs in the last year. my friends and i like to travel to quilt shops and will often visit shops up to two hours away. we make it our own shop hop and visit several in a day. always fun. there are a couple of shop hops in different areas each year. one has 17 shops this year. the other is further away but has about 10 shops.

i forgot we also have 2 beverlys shops nearby. they have really upgraded their fabric in the last year.

Our Wal-Mart, 10 miles away, doesn't have fabric anymore. LQS is about 3 miles. Joann's is about 25 miles. Another LQS is about 28-30 miles. That's it. All the other places have closed long ago. So if I want a zipper/buttons/interfacing/stabilizer/etc for garmet sewing I have to drive to Joanns.
