sewed the hole closed that you were going to turn inside-out or "birthing" the quilt? Duh. 15 years of quilting, and I still forget. Rip, rip, rip.

Here is a tip I found from somewhere.....place two pins side by side at the point you want to quit stitching. I see those two pins and remember to stop sewing every single time!

I always place two pins where I'm going to start and two pins where to stop with my turning hole in between that way I start with a large enough area for turning every time.

I use the two pin trick too. Sometimes. The rest of the time I rip like you.

More times than I'd like to admit! Like the others, I've learned to put pins of one kind or another in place to remind me to stop!

I have only made a quilt that way the first time. I guess that I was not very good at it because it did not turn out well. Gave it to my sister for Christmas, and she loved it.

I don't do the birthing method, but on other projects I use the two pin method too.

I use the yellow glass head pins for nearly all my sewing. But I've saved a few other colors over the years. Now when I pin something together where I want to leave an opening, I put a green headed pin where I want to start sewing and a red headed pin where I want to stop.

i've done some birthing quilts and i put duck tape with safety pins for opening start in middle sew going to corners till you back to other side with tape and pin when just turn it inside out remove tape and pin close by hand or machine worked for me hope is helps
