That actually sounds about right. I know that one of the eBay sellers says they can fit 29-40 yards in the large priority mail box, which is 12x12x5.5. Your box is almost 3 times bigger, so you would theoretically be able to fit almost 120 yards.

So... how many boxes do you need? Is there that much cardboard in MN? LOL

I would be very interested in the weight of the fabric. I could estimate how many yards I have in plastic totes if I had a better idea of how much yardage (on average for quilt fabric) is in a pound!

Probably NOT enough !! A yard usually weighs between 4 or 5 oz. Good luck with your move. I would be VERY careful not to pack too much in a box.

I did try - and it is still on the floor. I am guessing it weighs between 28 and 34 pounds.

Most quilting fabrics weigh between four to five ounces.

Just weighed the fabric each piece at a time - 16 pieces - the scale is accurate to 1/8 ounce - and the fabric total is 30 pounds 9 ounces.

The box weighs 14 -1/4 ounces.

    Approxmate breakdown of fabrics:

    12 yards of Hi-Fashion
    40 yards of Fabric Traditions
    57 yards of VIP

So if I tried to pick up the fiilled box, it would weigh about 31 pounds 9 ounces.

Ummmm - I would hate to pack up and move all the fabric I have.

This particular stack of fabric averaged out to about 4.478 ounces per yard (4-1/2 ounces) is a reasonable working number for estimating quantity.

I think 3.5 yards per pound would be a reasonable estmate.

Wowzers! That is a lot of fabric! I guess it folds down smaller than we thought.
