I have one for my machine. When I first starting seeing them a few years ago they seemed a little pricey. My hubs got some plexiglass and made me one to fit my HV. I love it, especially for piecing.

I also have the sewingmates extension table and insert. I love them. They are very well made. The extension table has metal legs. USA made in a family business.

I have an electric lift for my sewing machine but not my serger. After a year of wrestling fabric I caved and got a sew steady. It's been great. Price depends on what size you get. Prices are competitive among the websites with the "junior" at around 60. They go up with the size. If you think of it as "another template or tool" vs the mint you paid for the machine-it's not much for the benefits. Before you buy find the lowest prices then check retailmenot.com for an additional discount code. Good luck and have fun.

I just recently ordered one from Sewingmates. I am pleased and don't have to buy a table for each of my machines. It adjusts to fit them all. http://sewingmates.com/

have a Sew Steady one for my Pfaff quilt 4. which i love. Made it possible to sew on a Coleman folding table when i was living in bush Alaska and didn't want to ship real furniture.

My husband made a huge one using old countertop that has a cutout for the sewing machine. A lot larger than an acrylic ones. It is supported at the height of the machine by dowels. Works a lot better than the smaller extensions. Very little drag and easier to maneuver a huge quilt. Maybe you could contact a contractor that just remodeled a kitchen and has some old counter top. Store it under the bed when not in use. He has made a couple for other quilters

I bought a small Sew Steady extension table for my second hand Bernina 1530 from an ebay seller, sorry I can' remember the name. It fits perfectly and really helps when I'm fmq or walking foot quilting.

Yep, it sits on the floor under the machine. I think I used it once. But I prefer hand quilting.

Mine came with my Brother. Look on line for your brand of machine and see if you can order from them.
