I use my Brother HS2000 machine & although I wish it had a bigger throat area, I really enjoy working with it! I find puddling is easier than rolling my work most of the time on this machine.

Actually, her name is Patsy Thompson. You can go to patsythomspondesigns.com to see all her DVD's on machine free motion quilting. My husband bought ALL of them for me for Valentine's day. WOW! She even has short clips of each one on her sight. These are the BEST DVD's I've ever seen. She's very good with detailed instruction.

I free motion when I quilt. I usually just do lap quilts or wall hanging, tablerunners - smaller stuff. Send the larger stuff out.

I quilt on my Janome MC4000 and on my New Home school sewing machine. (I don't know why it's called a school sewing machine except that it is a very sturdy machine with very few bells and whistles. 3 stitch lengths, 3 zig zags, a buttonhole, and a blind stitch. My walking foot fits on it. I prefer to use the New Home because it isn't as fragile. The only kind of quilting is stitch-in-the-ditch, and cross-hatching. Works for me. When I have anything more "complex" I hand quilt (with a hoop or just lap quilting. I am no pro.

Until then, I'll machine quilt with pleasure using my Pfaff.
I also have a Pfaff and machine quilt most of my quilts. I do mostly Stitch in the Ditch quilting as I haven't mastered free motion quilting yet. May in Jersey
