I too love to piece - so do what you love! Life is too short not to.

If I have the time I quilt my own and I enjoy hand quilting. But if I have a deadline (a gift quilt) then I send them out to be quilted. I have vowed to make each of my grandchildren a quilt for the wedding so you can see why the time varies. I have several quilts that I am working on the tops, but I should have a space now for 3-4 years so I am making the tops. Then hopefully I have time to hand quilt my tops before I need athem.

I have always quilted my own be it crib size or large queen. I have this inexplicable feeling that I need to do every stitch otherwise I can't call it mine. I will continue to do my own quilting on my Bernina 440 then I can buy more fabric to piece more .... you get the picture!

I quilt all my quilts on my domestic Juki 98Q. I started FMQ almost as soon as I started quilting about 7 yrs ago. I started with stippling and echo stitching and SITD. I have added vines, flowers, several of Leah Days stippling designs and I have just completed the 3rd border doing crosshatch. My quilting is not show quality by a long shot, but it looks okay to me, and my kids and friends say they all look great. If I had to send them out I just could not afford to have them quilted.
