Happy to see this thread. When my sister told me they were transferring to Memphis, the first thing I did was start checking out quilt shops on the computer! She lives in Drummonds, which is in west TN. I live in South GA. I figure there must be several new quilt shops for us to check out in our visiting back and forth. Any suggestions? Plus we'd love to meet up with other quilters in the area!

I want to know where the very very best place to shop is in or around Chattanooga. I'll be coming down there in September with a non-quilting friend - so will only push it enough to go to one shop.

I live in Winchester. We only have a couple of quilt shops but if you get a chance to go to Fayetteville there is a store called Sir's that has a lot of fabric at very good prices.

I live in Jackson, which is in between Memphis and Nashville. We have a really nice LQS called Sew Many Ideas, you can see it from the interstate. :D

There may be more, but these are the shops I know of:

    Hancock's on Brainerd Road

Lavender Lime on South Terrace - http://www.lavenderlimeinspires.com/

Hobby Lobby at Hamilton Place Mall (also a HL in Hixson and Dalton, but Hamilton Place has the largest store)

And I believe there's a shop in Ringgold (GA) called Sew-Bee-It. I've never been there, but they have a website. It looks like a neat store. http://www.sew-bee-it.com/

As far as which is the best, Lavender Lime is a nifty store. Hobby Lobby's probably got the largest selection, though. And Hancock's is okay overall, but the store is rather messy and the aisle are very narrow.

I heard that we're getting a Joann's this fall, but I don't know the exact date or where the store will be located.

Another from Knoxville here. I'm native Texan, but have lived here for 37+ years. Boxerlady, if I was a betting woman, I'd bet your avatar picture was taken from the Cherohala Byway. here's a similar one my DH took a few years ago. There is truly some fantastic country all over East Tennessee/Western North Carolina.

I'm in Johnson City, transplanted over 30 years ago from Chattanooga, so I'm a Tennessee girl. We're lucky up here to have a couple of great quilt shops.
