I usually buy 2 yards. Yesterday I went to my favorite QS and saw wonderful pink and black fabrics and bought 2 yards of each (there were three in collection) and best of all-it was 50% off so I got fabric for $4.50 a yard and I am thrilled. Now I have to figure what to do with it, and hubby has not seen it yet as I hid it in my stash.I can always get other colors for fillers but the colors are so striking.

I found a beautiful fruit fabric at Hancocks called Fruit Basket before the holidays, made things such as mug rugs and potholders with it. When I went back to get more, of course it was gone. It is not one they reorder so checked at another store, none. Was in Shreveport, LA and checked Hancocks there and they had some, was so thrilled. I bought all they had, 6 yards and got it for 40% off with a coupon.

I am in the same frame of mind as several others. I like to buy in 3 yard increments. If I really love it, I will buy enough to share with my quilting daughter. And if there is a yard or so let on a bolt I will buy the rest of it.

If I see it as a backing, I'll buy 8-10, enough for the back and some on the front. If I really like it usually about 5 or 6 yards or the end of the bolt.. Of course I always find the best buys and the best fabric when the pocket only has change in it...LOL
