I had to realize that ripping is part of the whole sewing experience. When I was young, let's not discuss how many years ago, and took Home-Ec (oops, just aged myself), I thought ripping out my seams meant I failed.

Now, I just think it's part of the plan. Unfortunately, I tend to do something the wrong way, rip it out, then do it right!

Are you asking about mistakes in sewing or life in general? Lol. Either way, I'd have to say every day of my life so far. Making no mistakes means you aren't trying hard enough. :-)

I just took creative licensing with my borders for my finished top. I planned on doing two borders picture frame style and ding dong me thought if try and make it a bit easier. Well when I got the long sides on I went duuuuh and now instead of picture frame borders I have a plaid style border which looks better than my original plan anyways. Lol.

One day I'll learn how to do pictures so show y'all.

It depends on what you consider a "mistake". If it is a tiny "whoops", probably an average of 10 per quilt. If it is an "OH NO!" (w/o tears) then more like 5 per quilt. If it is an "OH NO!" with tears, then only a couple per quilt. If it is a real mess that requires my sweetie to come into my sewing room, calm me down, help me figure out what to do now, then only once every 2 or 3 quilts. When you ask a question like this you need to define your terms more exactly! Mistakes are why appliques exist!

I've been known to take a rotary cutter and slice up a whole quilt top LOL. But you know what ? I re-sewed it into a beautiful bright scrappy string quilt that the recipient loved !
