I found a piece that I made my daughters 4th grade dress and cap for pioneer day at school. She is now 26!

And then there are those who try to tell you that you should only store fabric for 6 months!
I've seen fabric in the shops for longer than that!

As for fabric, I have some that belonged to my great-grandmother - died in 1947, lots of stuff from the 50s that was given to me, it's great for making labels with iron on printer sheets!

I found a peice of 1930's fabric, not a reproduction, at a garage sale. It was in a box of other fabrics, some were not usable, but this was a keeper. Darling little girls rolling a hoop, done in pink and blue on white ground. Can't bring myself to cut it.

The oldest piece of fabric I have that I personally bought new is from around 1977. I made most of my clothes then and it's a piece of fake silk poly with huge pink roses.

Dated to around 1930. So...80 years old. What do I win? :>
That's about what I'm guessing mine is.

I have lots of fabric from the 50s and 60s - I used to make all my clothes with my Mom and Aunts who were my mentors. It is interesting to go through some of the pieces and see how the textures, styles and fiber content have changed.

My husband's aunt gave me some black felt that is over 100 years old! She is 96 years old herself. Her mom brought the fabric from the U. S. to Canada to make pants for hubby. I made my husband's aunt a tea cosy using that felt as the base, adding machine washable felt to applique a cat on both sides of the cosy. She loves it so much!

I have some flour sacks that my mother- in- law saved. She died at the age of 98 in 1991,these are still sewn up .Nice prints.
Do I win? Also have a pair of bloomers she sewed for her youngest daughter out of salt sacking. That daughter is now in her 70s. :P
