I have fabric that I purchased in the early 70's, have taken care of it (not exposed to sun or dust), kept it is a cabinet. I am sure it is just as good as the day it was purchased.

The oldest uncut fabric that I have dates to 1970. So I guess that would be 40 years! ha ha Never thought of it in those terms - very old.

I have 2 nylon stocking boxes of 2" squares that I cut as a teenager for a quilt in the 1950 s. Left overs from sewing projects. Does this count? Started quilting a year 1 1/2 ago and this summer have actually used some. Remaining will get worked into various projects

While living in Bali, I bought a couple pieces of museum-quality batik (they DO have a few holes/worn spots) and they, from my estimation, are over 100 years old. I keep them stored away but take them out every so often to look at them. I want to sell them because I do not have the perfect place to display them. I think other than that, my oldest fabric are pieces from the late 70's when I was making fabric photo albums.

Some pieces given to me by my dear MIL who is 96. I plan to use it as backing on the quilt tops she hand stitched in 1945, if I ever get the nerve.

My oldest fabric is not that old. It was from my dh first wife. She bought some flannel as bedlinnen for their first child. Their baby past away after 10 days. My dh's first wife(she must have being a lovely lady)a few years later. I stil didn't use it, i guess it's to precious to me.

Where would I get it appraised at??? I have no intention of getting rid of it but it would be nice to know the age of it. I am hoping to make it a family airloom (is that the right word or spelling?). My kids already know they are not allowed to get rid of it or I will come back an haunt them. LOL
I think the word is heirloom or am i wrong? (that piece is absolutely stunning!)

I have a quilt that my mom and I made that has ALL different old clothes that the family had worn. My dad's old suit, a crazy pant suit of my mom's, my very first pants that I was allowed to wear to school. This was our first quilt that we made together, I was 28 or 29 at the time. It has my fathers WWII blanket in it.
