I have a few from the late 70's and 80's, so you are not alone - can't throw out a good scrap of fabric.

Mine that I personally bought is under 10 years old. Found some patches that were things I played with in the 60's

I made a dirndl (sp) skirt for 4-H back in 1957 and got a purple ribbon at the county fair. Made it into a child's apron for our first daughter when she was very young and it is still in my kitchen towel drawer used by the grandkids. That's what you call a good piece of cotton!!!

I have a box containing a few scraps of fabric that I used for my son's nursery... primary colors, balloons, polka dots, etc... and he will be 27 years old next Friday. I still have photos but will keep a few swatches of fabric... just in case he has a child someday.

Some of mine is from my DGM & some from the dresses my DM made me as a young child. So some of them are over 70 years old, maybe older. I also have a quilt I made out of blocks from DGM & some of the fabric is starting to fray. Will be using the vintage fabrics to replace them to keep the quilt in that same era.

I have scraps from two aunts and my grandmother - those old house dresses and aprons - that are probably at least 50 years old.

I have no idea how old many of my scraps are, as a good share of them were gifts friends who either no longer sew or don't want to use their scraps. I'm sure that I'd have scraps that were nearly as old as I (78 yrs) if I had not had to start over collecting scraps twice. The first time I had to start over was in 1963 when we moved from a house to a 10 wide 40 foot long mobile home. My scraps went in the garbage, as there was no place to put them, according to my husband. The second time I had to start over was in 1973 when our home was totaled by floodwaters.

I want to say about ten years? I started quilting ten years ago anyway...but I do have some fabric/blocks that are vintage - maybe 1950's? I love to collect unfinished tops and blocks.
