I have a quilt top made by my grandmother and mother sometime before 1950. Another one made by my moher before 1956. I need to get both of them qilted before the middle of August, will be raffle items at our family reunion.

1972. A Queen size scrappy 8 point star. The big squares are 9 patch, and the little squares are 4 patch. My mom wouldn't let me machine piece it. All blocks are pieced. Some pieces were damaged (rust) by the paper clips holding the units together. I went thru & took out all the clips, and cut new pieces. The blocks are over 1/2 joined.

My mother died 6 years ago, and my sister asked me to make a quilt in honor of our mother. As we were cleaning out her closet and such, if a clothing item appealed to her, she would set it aside. I started this quilt about a year after she died -- so it's been a UFO for 5 years now. It's really hard to pick it up and work on it since everytime I look at a piece of fabric, all the memories come rushing back. Although it's been heartbreaking at times, it's also been very good therapy.

Me too. My bicentennial quilt was huge with 2" squares. That was before I knew how to match up small blocks and used scissors to cut so when I look at it now (which I did once 2 years ago) I just want to rip it all up.

I had a quilted jacket that I had started...that was maybe 20 years ago. I found it last summer and decided I would never wear it. I unsewed some of the quilting, found some extra blocks, connected the four patchwork blocks together and created a quilt top for my sister. I was so lucky that I found a new print that worked great for the borders. Need to put the binding on. When finished...I will post it.
