Default How to quilt a Dresden Plate?

I have just put together Dresden blocks for a bed topper. I appliqued them to the white backround
blocks and stitched them down each blade, (in the ditch). Should I have waited and done this when
it came time to quilt or can I just finish the quilting the way it is and what kind of pattern would you
    use for the blocks?
Thanks in advance for your help.

There are several pictures of Dresdan Plate quilts on here. You might get some idea's from looking at them. Charisma has several pictures on her Blog also.

For some quilting ideas, you can check the quilting gallery ......4 pages of Dresden Plate pics.
Click the pics to get a larger image that will help show the quilting.
