    Default How to quilt a Sun Bonnet Sue

    I have an applique Sun Bonnet Sew that is ready for quilting..How would you quilt it...[ATTACH=CONFIG]552142[/ATTACH]

    Meander behind the dolls, ribbon candy in the sashing, small vine in the sashing.

    I'd do a crosshatch around the dolls, a heart version of ribbon candy (right side up, upside down) in the sashing & either flowers or balloons in the border.

    btw -- love your Sunbonnets! very cute!

    I have always quilted this quilt the traditional way, outlining the Sues (her hat, arm, shoes and items she's holding) and crosshatching the background.

    Here is a picture of my Sun Bonnet Sue that I just finished. I did SITD on the sashing strips and then I did hand stitching around the applique. I used Warm & Natural so I didn't have to do a lot of stitching.
