Default How to shade wool pieces on an applique piece

Hi ! I am doing one of four mini quilt hangings by Granny's Legacy Patterns. I am currently doing one for autumn. The mini pieces of wool appliqué pieces have been colored to give shading and depth.

Tonight I tried tulip fabric markers and included blotting with alcohol afterwards. That did nothing. The tulip fabric markers by themselves did nothing.

I hesitate to try crayons, wax paper and iron heat because I am not sure how the wool fabric will respond.

Has anyone tried to shade wool?I have seen all these four season mini's done at a show and they looked great! Any suggestions? I am thinking I can also call the shop or possibly a local wool supplier to see if they have any hints.

    TIA Anne

I use dyes to over dye, verigate and shade my wools. Visit Dharma trading company to find lots of good instructions, hints, tips and products to use to create your own special fabrics.
