Default How Strict?

This is a challenge for my guild. The only instructions was size 22 x 18. It's called starry starry night and it's the blue fabric. So you can see by that hangy down bit, {it's a doll} it's more than 22" and after the binding is sewn down and it's washed it's not going to be 18" wide more like 17 1/2. So do the judges like take a tape to it and toss it back and yell "you cheater go home"? I'm not much into art pieces so it's made to be a gift for a doll quilt. The doll will have snaps so she can get cuddly with her doll pal. Thanks for any help.

Don't know how strict they will be. I have never entered any challenge with an exact size requirement. Is there a person running this challenge that you can ask??

in our last challenge, there was an oversized quilt that was still displayed at the library. i think our judges will not let it win an award. you'd have to contact your challenge committee to ask them what is acceptable

If it says no larger than 22 X 18 then it depends on the competition. If all the others meet the size requirement then they would take placement over how cute yours is. If none meet the size requirement then you will have the same chance and if you are the only one that did one....you're a winner!

I can understand judges not giving you an inch if they decide not to. They would have to give another 2 inches then another 4 inches. But if it is a friendly competition then I think you will be fine.

Can you hang it the other side up, so the doll quilt overlaps the main one? I doubt the half inch the other way would disqualify you in any but the stuffiest of guilds. How large is your guild? How many entries are they likely to have?

I am a rule follower and thus my answer would be "the quilt is disqualified". If a quilt that didn't meet the rules for the Guild Challenge was accepted into the competition, then that would be the last Guild Challenge I would enter, and the Guild executives would know why I stopped entering their Challenges. It simply isn't fair to the other contestants.

I wouldn't want to be a part of something when someone yells you cheater go home, how rude is that?!
I thnk your quilt is darling, and I wouldn't let anyone tear it apart like that. Just my 2 cents.

If they do, just don't listen. It's cute.
