How to Use these scrap diagonal strips
#1
Hi, this is my first time posting, but I have been reading this board about 5 years and love it. I am a scrap quilter because I got lots of scraps from 2 quilt organizations I belong to. I picked these up at a guild meeting (they have a table where everyone can bring in scraps) and can't figure out how to use them. I make charity quilts and have lots of scraps to bind and sash if I can figure out a pattern. Help!!
There are 8 strips on the diagonal.

They look great the way you have then laid out. Do you have more or is this all you have of that size/shape?
If this is all you have then I'd sew them together, add a wide piece at the bottom to make it square-ish and make a nice block and then incorporate it into a scrappy sampler quilt.
Or could you use them as a border to enlarge a smaller block or 2? Since you have 8 strips, you could do something fun with 2 blocks.
Or some modification of this:

Have fun good luck, please post what you decide. It's so much fun to see how others use scraps.
I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas.

The angle appears to be right for making strip pieced stars (lone star) or You could cut out equalateral triangle pieces and reassemble them into a quilt top. You could look at www.quiltville for the scrap quilts Bonnie Hunter puts tutorials on. There may be a pattern that you can use them on.

Hobo2000, I think a french braid would flow nicely and not waste much material. When I settle down, I am going to try to find a pattern for this combo.
Funny I hadn't thought of that with my avatar!!
