Default How would you construct this border?

I want to make small scallops to border a runner....individual " half circles"-along the lines of prairie points. Any suggestions? I always do things the "hard" way and then discover a more efficient method!
You need to scroll down to see a closeups of the border....

I love the embroidery on these scallops and plan to do that as well. Thank you!

It looks to me that half circles are inserted between the borders during the top construction. I would put fabric right sides together and draw the size circle you want. Stitch all around the circle and trim to 1/4 inch seam allowance. Draw a line down the center of the circle and cut the circle half with the rotary cutter. Turn the half circle right side out and press. You now have 2 half circles ready to sew into the seam. Do more circles in the same manner.
if you plan to do the embroidery, you will need to draw out the circles and embroider the top piece of the circle BEFORE putting the 2 layers together and stitching around the edge.

Do a sample. I think I would draw the long circle, like putting an inch in the center. If you are going to do the embroidery by machine, I would not cut out the circles, just draw them on your fabric but keep the fabric large enough to maybe make 4 circles. That way it would fit into your hoop. You would have more room to work with and you could embroidery the full circle and not work with halves, it would go easier this way. You then could cut out the emb. pieces, sew it to the half circles only so that would be easier too. It will be beautiful!

Thanks tartan and aunt piggy! I had planned to do a combination of your ideas, so I guess I am on the right track! I will be doing the embroidery by hand, and I have a Cricut collecting dust, so I can cut out circle templates. Thanks!

The circle border is pretty, would be nice on a special baby quilt. I like it, thanks for sharing.
