Have you tried gray instead of black? All I see is the black, perhaps because of the size of the blocks. I agree to the separation of the colors but the blocks are what you really want to be featured. This is a really cute idea and love the entire project.

I LOVE THIS idea. I have to look for more ideas. Would it be too busy though? Would I keep the blocks as they are arranged now?

I agree with the black. What a great idea for a wedding quilt. I think I will start looking for fabric to make one next year for my niece. We are a family of Disney people!

I really like the black but as you can see on the design wall, a white/neutral also works. It depends whether you are wanting the quilt to be bold or calm. The movie reel look is neat but it might draw attention away from the signature blocks. I also like SewCraftyGirls's suggestion (it is a very different layout): https://occasionalpiece.wordpress.co...uilt-for-lora/

What I saw when you posted the pic with the sashing was: (at first glance) 2 different color sashings. the black and a lighter one along the lower part of the quilt blocks. I thought it looked fantastic and added depth to the whole design Especially because the "white strips" were around lighter squares. Even knowing they aren't really strips, simply the white background, the idea is beautiful.
