    What type of thread would you recommend that I use in my Avante. Don't call the quilt police on me, but I throw ALL of my quilts in a warm washer after finishing to give them that old quilty look. Does poly thread have the same look? I am currently using 100% cotton and it has a tendency to break while quilting. I always thought that if you use 100% cotton fabrics that you should use 100% cotton thread.

    I have a different machine but usually use cotton wrapped poly, I don't expect my quilts to be around for 100+ yrs , I too find the all cotton breaks too easily when quilting with it

    Thanks! I will give it a try! Nothing more frustrating than getting "in the zone" then having to step out of it when the thread pops. What size needle do you you use? I normally use Warm and Natural batting.

    I have a different long arm. But i use king tut & bottom line for the bobbin. Don't have any thread breakage.

    I have the HQ16, use size 16 needle, make sure it's at 6:00, use so fine in the bobbin, and King Tut on top, no problems with breakage.

    ok quilters..educate me here...why is the bobbin a different thread than the top thread?

    Why would the quilt police mind you washing your quilt? Most of us here wash ours before we give them away.

    I have an Avante also - I use cotton because that is my preference - usually Signature thread or King Tut or Coats and Clarks - 100% cotton - I don't have problems with threads breaking - perhaps you have a tension problem?

    It seems like every 15 minutes the thread breaks. It almost looks like it is shredding. What size needle do you use for 100% cotton thread?

    I used to use cotton thread for quilting-now I use glide a poly thread-love it and no lint.
