So I decided at oh, 11 oclock tonight to start a new quilt and take a break from all the applique I am doing. I knew what I wanted to do and picked out my material and now Im ready to cut but I have a problem. The border is a ribbon but I want to make it a curling ribbon and Im not sure how. I found one on quilterscahce but Im not "getting" the instructions, probably cause its so late. Ive been looking online and cant find anything. The finished size will be 2 in. Its a hst on one side and 2 qst on the other. Any suggestions?

for each se of 4 patches in a 2" border:

    cut two squares 2-7/8" x 2-7/8"'
cut the squares in half diagonally

    cut a light square 3-1/4" x 3-1/4"
    cut a dark square 3-1/4" x 3-1/4"
stack the two squares so one is exactly on top of the other
    place them right sides together
cut them into four pieces diagonally
sew the pairs together along one of the short sides
make sure to always keep the same color on top
make sure to keep the points facing in the same direction as you put them through the machine.
open up the stitched pairs so that the dark fabric is to the right

match the QST to an HST and stitch carefully along the diagonal
open it up and there is your patch.
