Does anyone own one? I'm thinking of purchasing one. I mainly want it as a backup machine and for the letter embroidery (for making quilt labels). Does anyone know if it's in a cabinet, is it removable and portable for taking to a sit 'n sew or class?

    Thanks!

None of the Viking machines come in a cabinet.... as most Sewing machines are no longer sold in cabinets... it is a seperate purchase. They are sold as portable so there is a base.
But check what cover you get some the hard cover is an extra.

This one is from the 80's and it is in a cabinet. It belonged to the seller's grandmother.

You can probably get a base ... these machines where mounted into cabinets at a dealer they did not come from the factory that way. If there is a sew and vac near you they probably have a base and cover that will work.
If its a machine you want to use for classes do check the weight of the machine.. there is a good chance its all metal ( a good thing) but it does make it heavy to tote to a class.

Good point about the weight! Hadn't thought about that. Thanks! I hope I can go see the machine tomorrow.

So disappointing. The owner didn't have the 2nd card that has the alphabet. It was a beautiful and well cared for machine that stitched nicely, but I really did want that alphabet.
