Default Husqvarna Viking #1 sewing machine help

Husqvarna Viking #1 1200 help....does anyone have this machine? I dropped a needle down behind the bobbin case. Can I remove the back on the machine (only has one screw) and get it out? Any help will be much appreciated. I don't want to do something and have parts come sprining out at me.

Did you try taking the throat plate off? You can change plates on that model. You should be able to see behind the bobbin case if you do. I had that machine, but never dropped a needle there.

If you take the back off, you could void your warranty. Try holding it upside down and shaking it around a little bit, maybe that would help it to fall out. We did that at a class the other day when one of the ladies did the same thing. That and those long bent tweezers...you might also try one of those telescoping magnets. Good luck!

Drue, that is what I ended up doing. I had someone bigger than me turn it upside down and give it a little shake and wa-la the needle and the tip of a broken needle fell out. I really did not want to take that back off!!! And was afraid to use a magnet because it is computerized....but the upside down and shake worked. Thanks!!!

I actually have this machine for sale since I got my Diamond deluxe. If the turning the machine upside down doesn't work then go to yahoo and they have a group their for this machine and I'm sure someone can help. I would not use a magnet in it for obviouse reasons, a computer and a magnet, not a good mix. Voiding the warranty isn't a problem since the machine is from the 90's but I'd avoid it if possible.
