I quilt my own, when I can. I am a LAQ and have been quilting for others for 14 years. Customer quilts come first so mine just have to wait. So I have several in waiting. I love seeing the big smiles when they come to get their quilts.

I noticed a lot of folks say they hand quilt - I have a question. How long does it take to do hand quilting? I just started quilting and practicing my FMQ and signed myself up for a hand quilting class at my LQS. I want to do a couple pillows out of Tile Quilts. I was just curious - how long does it take to do say a pillow, crib, full - any size you have an idea about. Thanks!

I quilt at night for a couple of hours and I would say I could do a small pillow in a week. It all depends on how intricate the quilting stitches are. It takes me longer to do feathers and circles. Straight lines go quickly. Sometimes I mark and sometimes I just free hand. I have been making lap quilts 60 x60 and those take me about two months to quilt. I put a lot of stitches in mine.
    Hope this helps.

I do my own, hand quilter. I enjoy it & it is very relaxing, my frame is set up in living room so I can watch or listen to the tv. :-)

Thanks sinceresissy! I realize that it may vary per person, but just wanted to have an idea.

That's the best part about making quilts, and us quiltmakers. We're all unique and very talented in our own way. I think that's why quilt-making has stayed so popular for so long.Every person can put their own spin on their quilt and for the most part unless it's planned that way,no 2 are the same.

I'm glad because I so enjoy the relaxing part of the quilting and my stitches are even and the same size and all that stuff but it's just the doing the sewing. Cheers!
